Getting Around Caboolture by Bus
Big Bus News for Caboolture*!
After six months of persistent, polite advocacy, at Get Around Caboolture we are thrilled to share some great news:
Translink has assigned a network planner to review the bus routes and services in Caboolture!
We did our homework—drawing on thinkers like Jarrett Walker (who explains how bus networks work best) and Paul Mees (whose Transport for Suburbia showed us that good suburban bus systems are possible—just look at Zurich and Toronto).
We wrote letters, attended transport conferences, and connected with experts. It’s taken time, but it’s paying off. From here, we know it could take 2–5 years depending on funding, planning, and coordination with Council and Treasury. But the wheels are turning.
The lesson? Do your research, be respectful, highlight the problem without being narky (not always easy!), and trust that sometimes the right person at the right time is listening. We were told it was too hard. We kept going anyway.
Change is possible! Keep at it.
