Better Streets Board for 2025–26

Following our AGM, we’re excited to introduce the Better Streets Board for 2025–26 — a passionate, skilled, and energised group ready to take our movement into its next phase of growth and national impact.

🌟 Our New Office Bearers

  • President: Jullietta Jung

  • Vice Presidents: Tepi McLaughlin & Susanne Newton

  • Secretary: Matt Faber

  • Treasurer: Laura Aston

  • Board Members: Jeremy Lawrence, Ghizlane Chergaoui, Louise Popowitz, and Steven Burgess

This new board brings together a powerful mix of community advocates, urban designers, policy thinkers, local leaders, and everyday people committed to safer, greener, more people-friendly streets.

We’re looking forward to a big year ahead, including launching a national Safe Speeds Campaign, strengthening our coalition, empowering volunteers, and expanding our influence across councils, states, and federal government.

💚 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Outgoing Board Members

Better Streets simply wouldn’t exist without the vision, passion, and dedication of our founding leaders.

Thank you to Sara Stace – Founding President

For the last three years, Sara has been our north star — guiding our growth, shaping our philosophy, and representing Better Streets everywhere from councils to conferences to the marathon course.
Her countless hours supporting volunteers, refining policy papers, nurturing working groups, and ensuring everything we did was backed by evidence have built the foundation for everything still to come.
We’re incredibly grateful for her leadership, commitment, and unwavering belief in what Better Streets can be.

Thank you to Sam Johnson – Vice President

Sam has been instrumental in shaping Better Streets’ voice and impact — from leading our first national federal election campaign to organising early events and taking our message into Parliament House.
His humour, thoughtfulness, and strategic insight have strengthened the organisation at every step. We’re lucky to continue working alongside him as part of the movement.

And thank you to Sam Reich and John McNeil

Both served on the board from the very beginning, building the governance, finance, and legal scaffolding that allowed Better Streets to become a national charity with DGR status.
Much of their work was behind the scenes — and absolutely essential.

We are deeply grateful for everything they have contributed to Better Streets’ foundation and success.

Looking Ahead

With a renewed board, an engaged coalition of more than 130 organisations and 600+ supporters, and momentum building across every state, 2025–26 is shaping up to be our most impactful year yet.

Together — with our outgoing leaders, our incoming board, and our growing community — we will continue to push for safer speeds, more walkable neighbourhoods, and streets designed for people of all ages and abilities.

Here’s to the next chapter for Better Streets. 💚🌱🚦
